SAGINAW, Mich. --In Saginaw County, the president of a school board is charged with selling child pornography on the so-called dark web.

Thirty-six-year-old Jesse Medina is the president at North Saginaw Charter Academy in Kochville Township.

He was arrested in April and faces trial later this summer on charges he allegedly received child porn.

In court documents, it was revealed Medina said that he abused a friend’s six-year-old daughter.

Later, he told police that was just a fantasy.

According to court documents, he did admit he tried to gain access to a five-year-old for sexual purposes but was unsuccessful.

Medina was indicted by a grand jury in April of receiving or distributing child porn and possessing it.

A neighbor who says he's known Medina for over 30 years says the news is quite a surprise.

"For myself, it’s disturbing and I imagine it also disturbing for other people in this neighborhood, that have small children or young girls, I just recently found out about it. It's shocking. It's really hard to swallow,” said Anthony Kanuszewski.

A spokeswoman for the school, Leah Nixon says Medina has been suspended by the operator of the charter school, Central Michigan University.

Medina has also told the school he intends to resign.

Nixon says the charges aren't related to any events or actions at North Saginaw Academy or involving its students.

His lawyer didn't return our phone calls.

Medina is in federal custody in the Clare County Jail.

If it isn't settled, the case heads to a trial in August in federal court.
