Saginaw railroad recognized as best of its kind in the country
SAGINAW, Mich. - A local railroad getting a big honor Monday morning in Saginaw.
Lake State Railway was recognized by Congressman John Moolenaar as Best Short Line Railroad in the Country.
The company was named Short Line Railroad of the Year by Railway Age Magazine in March.
Company leaders give credit to local communities for their success.
"I think the biggest thing we've done is develop new business. So, we worked hard with the different customer along the line. New customers to locate facilities along our railroad. All that development work has turned into growth that we're talking about,” said Lake State Railway President and CEO John Rickoff.
Along with congratulating the railway, Moolenaar took a tour and met with company leaders about the issues they're facing.
