SAGINAW, Mich. — Students in Saginaw had a chance to get their hearts check Saturday.
Usually when they go in for physicals, it doesn’t include the heart.
The screenings were free thanks to a partnership with the Kumar Foundation, Beaumont Health and Live Like Max.
"In a normal healthy physical a student never receives an EKG or an echo cardiogram. They just see a physician, get their vitals checked and thats it. Having the ability to use our resources, medical technology at our disposal is what really makes a big difference,” said Dr. Jay Mohan of McLaren Macomb Medical Center.
The goal of the screenings was to detect hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
But, that’s not all the cardiologists find.
The screening can also detect high blood pressure amongst other things.
