SAGINAW, Mich. - Friday marked the 'International Day of Peace' around the world.
Locally, St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw marked the occasion.
A new peace pole was dedicated at the hospital, planted as a visual symbol of the hospital's mission statement.
"It's just a reminder for all of us to keep peace in our hearts. You know I think we are surrounded by a lot of controversy and conflict and that can make us uneasy not having peace so it’s a reminder," said hospital chaplain Diane Smiley.
"Peace Day" was established in 1981 by a United Nations resolution.
