Thousands without power in Genesee, Saginaw Counties

Crews have been assigned to investigate why the power is out in both counties. (MGN)

SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. -- ***UPDATE***

Consumers Energy spokeswoman Debbie Dodd says that an equipment malfunction is the cause behind the outage that has left thousands in the dark in Saginaw.

She expects power to be restored by 1 p.m. or 1: 30 p.m.

The cause of the outage in Genesee County is still under investigation.

Just over 4,200 customers are without power in Saginaw County, according to the Consumers Energy outage map.

Nearly 1,400 customers are without power in Genesee County.

Crews have been assigned to investigate why the power is out in both counties.

Consumers Energy estimates that power should be restored by 1 p.m. for customers in Saginaw County.

Power should be restored by 12:30 p.m. for customers in Genesee County.
