Tips for getting kids ready for the back to school routine

FLINT, Mich. - Summer is winding down for children in Mid-Michigan and a local expert is sharing her best tips on getting your kids ready for fall.

Clinical therapist at Reconnect My Life in Flint, Shuntai Walker, says there are three main points when transitioning kids back to school.

First you must re-establish a bedtime.

Next you should start re-introducing homework, whether that means light reading or heading to a library.

Lastly address any fears or concerns that your child may have.

"It makes a difference when parents are proactive and planning, planning takes away some of the fear of what's next,” said Walker.
