DETROIT – The United States Postal Service will resume mail delivery to ZIP codes in the Detroit postal district beginning Friday.
This includes all ZIP codes beginning with 480 through 485 and 492.
Mail service had been suspended in multiple states during the dangerous wind chill conditions which saw readings dip as low as -60 in some places.
Wind chills in Michigan dipped into the -30's.
Postal officials also reminded customers to clear the way for the safety of mail carriers.
“As we resume delivery, we ask our customers to continue clearing sidewalks, paths and approaches to the mailboxes for the continued safety of our letter carriers,” said Detroit District Manager Karlett Gilbert.
