3-year-old left in car at Grandview of Las Vegas dies of heat-related injuries
SUNDAY 1:10 P.M. UPDATE:
The boy has been identified as 3-year-old Chase Lee of Fillmore, Utah. His cause and manner of death are pending, said the Clark County coroner.
A 3-year-old boy died Saturday after being left in a vehicle for about an hour at a south central Las Vegas vacation village resort.
The incident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at The Grandview at Las Vegas, 9940 Las Vegas Blvd. South, according to Lt. Carlos Hank of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The child was taken to St. Rose Siena but was pronounced deceased.
“After investigating this, at this time, it appears it's just a tragic accident,” said LVMPD Lt. Roger Price. “We have a very large family that came to town, and appears to maybe have lost track of one of the juveniles. And, unfortunately, by the time they found out what happened, too much time had already passed.”
Investigators say the temperature in the 4 p.m. hour was 114 degrees. The temperature in the car was likely 170 degrees.
Detectives said the adults responsible for the child were not drinking or otherwise impaired.
Detectives with the LVMPD Abuse and Neglect Detectives continue their investigation.
