LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying an abandoned 3-month-old baby found lying in the grass overnight in a Lakewood neighborhood.

The incident unfolded at about 1:30 a.m. Monday as officers were called to the 8500 block of John Dower Road Southwest for a report of a found infant, said Lt. Chris Lawler of the Lakewood police.

The person who found the child was walking past the location and heard what they thought was an animal in distress. That person used the flashlight on their cellphone and spotted a child lying in the grass.

They immediately called 911 and officers responded with West Pierce Fire and Rescue. The child was a little cold, but otherwise in good health with no injuries. The child was transported to a local hospital and placed into protective custody with Child Protective Services.

Officers canvassed the local area, but were unable to locate a parent. Detectives are looking for any information anyone may have regarding this child.

The child is a boy, about 3 months old, wearing a green and blue striped onesie with the words “Little Brother” on the front.

If you have information about this case, please call the Lakewood Police Department at 253-830-5000 or South Sound 911 Dispatch at 253-798-4721. Pictures attached of the child.
