Michigan reports uptick in Legionellosis cases, Genesee Co. confirms 10

Michigan reports uptick in Legionellosis cases, Genesee Co. confirms 10.

According to a report by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Legionellosis cases are on the rise across the state.

The highest numbers seem to be coming out of the Detroit Metro Area, but 10 of them were reported in Genesee County.

Some residents we spoke to were concerned that these cases were related to the water crisis, but health experts say otherwise.

"It does not appear these are related to the water issues. From what we've seen they've been spread out across different municipalities..different residences so no I don't believe there is a connection," Genesee County Health Department Health Officer, John Mckellar.

People who have traveled, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems are most at risk.

Symptoms are similar to Pneumonia. For more information click here.
