Regional NICU highlighted during National Neonatal Awareness Month
SAGINAW, MICH-- Covenant Healthcare Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit serves 18 counties and has been around for 40 years.
The staff transports babies by air an ambulance and has a staff of more than 100 people.
Some of the services the NICU provides are occupational therapists that work directly with babies giving massages and teaching them things like how to drink milk.
The staff of nurses, doctors and therapists say their goal is to put the babies in the best position to grow and develop.
Even after the babies leave the hospital the staff says their care doesn't end. Nurses make home visits and talk to parents regularly.
