Come from behind win propels Millington to state semi's

Millington beat Detroit Central Collegiate on Friday night to advance to the state semifinals.

The Millington Cardinal football team finished up the regular season with just one loss, and they have blown through the playoffs with a confidence and command of a team destined for big things. Post season wins over Hemlock and Montrose set up a Regional Final match-up against a Detroit Central Collegiate team coming off of wins over Byron and Warren Michigan Collegiate.

Millington was down 20-0 at halftime but on the opening kick-off, D.C.C. fumbles, Brett Knox recovers and that's when the momentum shfted.

The turnover set up the Cardinals first touchdown of the night as Jared Roehl trucked into the endzone to cut the lead to 20-6.

Later in the 3rd quarter, Millington struck gold again, this time Roehl ran 16 yards for the touchdown and D.C.C. led 20-16.

With under 5 minutes remaining in the game the Cardinals put the nail in the coffin, Brady Payne coasted into the endzone foto complete the comeback. Millington storms back in the second half to win the game 22-20. They will play the winner of Jackson Lumen Christi and Napolean.
