Friday Night Football: Upsets, playoff rivalries and championships won in Week 1


Laker Schools beat Cass City for the second time this season, winning 18-14 with a late Touchdown. Laker takes on Pewamo-Westphalia, who took down New Lothrop 35-14, in the Regional Final.

Flushing put the pressure on Fenton all night long, getting some big stops and making plays on offense, upsetting their Flint Metro League rivals 28-21. Flushing takes on Livonia Franklin in the Regional Final.

In our Game of the Week, Breckenridge dominated St. Louis 26-6. The Huskies take on the winner of Lake City and Ishpeming Westwood in the Division 7 Regional Final.

Nouvel improved to 11-0, beating Harbor Beach by just one point, 27-26, to advance to the Division 8 Regional Final. They'll take on Lincoln Alcona.

Swan Valley made a statement against Carrollton, winning 42-7. The Vikings barely beat Carrollton 18-14 earlier in the season. Swan Valley takes on Muskegon Oakridge in the Division 5 Regional Final.

Also in Division 5, Frankenmuth pulled away from Marine City in the second half 42-23. They'll take on the winner of Algonac and Ida in the Regional Final.

Linden continued their season-long offensive show, beating Brandon 49-27. The Eagles take on Farmington Hills Harrison in their Division 3 Regional Final.

Ithaca dominated Laingsburg 56-7, and will take on Montague in the Division 6 Regional Final.

Also in Division 6, Millington blasted Houghton Lake 55-28. They'll take on the winniner of Maple City Glen Lake and Traverse City St. Francis in the Regional Final.
