Hometown Hoops: Girls District Finals fuels Friday night frenzy

Our Hometown Hoops Game of the Week featured 22-0 Sandusky and 20-2 Resse for the district title. Reese came into the game still stinging from the lst time the two teams met when Sandusky beat them by 15 points. It wasn't as bad but the Redskins make it a clean sweep as they win it 47-35.

Bay City Western has proven to be one of the toughest teams in Mid-Michigan to beat but they ran into a buzz-saw when they faced Midland Dow on Friday 68-51.

Powers Catholic is always a tough out in the playoffs no matter what sports you're talking about and the girls basketball team proved to be no different. They went into Goodrich and gave the Martians fits on Friday night, but they couldn't quite pull off the upset. Goodrich wins it 49-45.

Clio went into Lapeer looking for the upset win but the Lightning weren't having it. Lapeer took a 33-20 lead into the locker room and never looked back, they beat the Mustangs 65-54.

Flushing and Carman-Ainsworth played a rematch from a week one match-up for the district title. Much like the last time the Cavaliers ran away with it, Cavs win it 50-39. Flushing takes on Lapeer in the Regional Finals.

The Hamady girls won their 12th straight district title, beating Beecher 55-50 in a tough battle as well. The Hawks were awarded Tom's Buzzer Beater.

Just two weeks after falling to the Bronchos by double digits, Fenton took down Holly to win their District Title as well.

Goodrich came back from a 10 point deficit to beat Powers Catholic 49-45. Sydney Donnelly sank two clutch free throws to provide the Martians with some cushion, and was awarded Cory's Buzzer Beater in the process as well.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary, 11-9, won a Class D District title game, taking down 17-5 All Saints 56-34.
