Watch: Mid-Michigan teams make most of state playoff runs


Several Mid-Michigan teams competed in the state semifinals and finals on Friday evening, making major strides for their programs.

In Division 3 soccer, Powers Catholic avenged a loss last year in the title game, beating Freeland 4-0. It's the first title for Powers since 2011.

In Division 3 baseball, Caro came just one run short of Madison Heights Bishop Foley, falling 3-2.

In Division 4 baseball, Unionville-Sebewaing couldn't stop unbeaten Portland St. Patrick from coming back, the Shamrocks with two four-run rallies to take down the Patriots 12-8.

In Division 3 Softball, Shepherd did all they could against Michigan-bound pitcher Meghan Beaubien, but she's a Wolverine for a reason, and the Kestrels are back to back champions for a reason, Shepherd falling 1-0.

In Division 4 Softball, Ottawa Lake Whiteford hit the ball well against Coleman, winning 6-1. Coleman finishes the season 35-7.
